Hernando Sportsman’s Club is home to the best action shooting matches in the Greater Tampa Bay Area, including: Rifle, Pistol, Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC), Shotgun, and Night Matches.
All of the following applies to every action shooting match, except the night match, which due to being held at night, operates on a different time schedule. More information about the individual matches is listed below.
Schedule
The match schedule is listed in the event calendar and on Practiscore.
Sign up
Sign up on Practiscore to request advanced squad placement. Those requests will be honored if possible, but are not guaranteed, as the match director may need to make changes for administrative purposes. Please note: Your registration is not complete until you show up at the range on match day, in person, to pay the match fee.
Fees
All Matches except the night match are $10 for members and $20 for non-members, payable at the range on the day of the match between 8:00am – 8:45am. The match fee must be paid by 8:45am to shoot the match.
Safety
As a prerequisite to participate in the match, all participants must be able to operate their firearms safety and follow range officer commands, without assistance from anyone else. This means being able to load, fire, move safety between shooting positions, work the action to clear malfunctions, unload and show clear, etc..
All shooters should be familiar with the match rules before coming to a match. In addition, there will be a mandatory safety meeting at 9am. All shooters must attend the safety meeting to participate in the match. New shooters are encouraged to ask for clarification of the safety rules if the are unsure.
No tracer, incendiary or penetrator ammunition (XM885, Green Tip, SS109, etc.). Chamber flags are required for all long guns.
Results
Results will be posted on Practiscore. They are easy to find if you use search term “hernando”.
Action Rifle
Action Rifle matches are held on the 2nd Saturday of every month. Bring at least 200 rounds of ammunition. Engage steel plates at 200 yards, paper plates, bowling pins, clay pigeons, and IPSC targets at 10-50 yards. No tracer, incendiary or penetrator ammunition (XM885, Green Tip, SS109, etc.). Chamber flags are required.

Action Pistol or PCC
Come test your ability to shoot your pistol or PCC accurately and quickly in a friendly club atmosphere. The match consists of several stages with paper and steel targets with obstacles. Targets typically range from 10 to 25 yards. Matches are held on the second Sunday of the month.

Action PCC
Action PCC (Pistol Caliber carbine) matches are held on the 4th Sunday of each month. 150 to 200 rounds total may be required depending on the stage setups. Four stages, $10 for club members and $20 for non-members entry fee.

Night Match
Hernando Sportsman’s Club Pistol Night Match is held on the 3rd Sunday of each month. 4 stages in low/no light conditions. Pistol caliber only – pistol or PCC. 200 rds min recommended. $15 member $20 non member. Front gates will be open by 4:00 PM. Registration closes at 5:30 PM, Match start 6:00 PM. Headlamps are encouraged to help with stage reset and when reloading magazines etc. THIS EVENT IS NOT FOR THE BEGINNING SHOOTER

Special Match
Hernando Special Matches, held on the 5th Sunday of any month with 5 Sundays, will have a different format for every match. The entry fee is $10 for club members and $20 for non-members. The match information will be posted on Practiscore.
